Medical Supplies Distributor — 3 Projects Over ~1 Year
Client Challenge
JDE World-to-OneWorld migration stalled on manual data conversions estimated at 3 FTE-years
A post-acquisition commercial printer division needed integration under cGMP 21 CFR Part 820
No activity-level profitability visibility across 60M monthly transactions
Client Solution
Migration: Commandeered in-flight conversions; implemented Forecasting and Advanced Warehousing with DSI barcoding
Integration: Migrated the printer division to corporate JDE — eliminating 10 arm’s-length inter-company processes and instituting Kanbans for raw material availability under cGMP
Profitability: Designed middleware exporting JDE and ABC data to the data warehouse; Rate-Based ABC across 60M monthly transactions, validated with ABC pioneers Owens & Minor
Client Impact Results
Conversion Speed: Under 2 weeks vs. 3 FTE-years estimated; launch on time and on budget
Integration: Inter-company process costs reduced ~85%; 100% bulk raw material availability
Cost Recovery: Over $5M identified — an unprofitable product line and an unprofitable market channel exposed by the Whale Curve

Andy Collier provided a solid foundation for the implementation of our Manufacturing processes in JD Edwards. Internal project issues put the effort at risk. Andy worked on the project before during and after the transition of project management and was a key element in keeping the project team together. Most impressive was Andy’s ability to understand the culture and objectives of our project. As with any organization those objectives did not always align with commonly accepted best practices. There were numerous political and operational roadblocks presented. Andy was very astute at insuring the team confronted the facts of the decision but would eagerly adjust work efforts to stay aligned with the team. Probably the best endorsement of his work lies in the fact that the Manufacturing team has insisted on budgeting for Andy’s return on an annual basis going forward. This is in an effort to continually improve manufacturing processes and insure that the system setup is aligned with those processes.
